Before WP 3.9
After WP 3.9
How to fix it?
If you know a little bit of CSS, you can add an image class to your child’s theme style.css file through the “Editor” under “Appearance”.
A CSS example would be:
border: 10px solid #a7060f;
Then you would add “my-img-class” (without the quotation marks) to the field “Image CSS Class” under “Advanced Options”.
This solution, however, may not work perfectly depending on how well your theme is coded.
For an alternative, you can use a plugin, explained below.

To make it easier on you, you can also download and install this great plugin that will bring back some of your most beloved image features: Advanced Image Styles WP plugin.
This plugin will allow you to easily add borders, colors and padding to your images.
