Managing Google Drive storage space | Creative ElementsDid you know? Google Docs don’t count towards your Google Drive Storage

That’s right, any files that use the proprietary formats such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drawings and Google Forms don’t count towards your Google Drive storage space.

How to make the most of it?

Well, if you’re not too attached to editing your spreadsheets in Excel/Numbers or your documents in Word/Pages, then you can convert them into Google proprietary formats to keep them in the cloud and manage them from there.

To convert a file into a Google format, simply right-click it, then choose “Open with…” and select the format you need.

Once converted, the file will appear with the new Google format colorful logo beside it.

Please remember to delete the original file when you’ve converted it to enjoy the fact that your new document doesn’t take any of your allocated Google Drive storage space!
