Not every single app should backup to your iCloud account on your iPhone

You may have dozens of apps installed on your iPhone and, by default, they all backup to your iCloud account as part of your iPhone backup.

But do you truly need to have all your apps backup to the cloud?

Probably not.

Apps like “Google Maps”, “Facebook”, “Twitter” and plenty of others ones that draw their data from their own servers will update themselves if you were to restore your iPhone to factory settings and install them again.

Others apps that record data on your iPhone would definitely benefit from backing up to the cloud like “Milebug” that I use to record business trip for accounting purposes.

How to turn off the apps that don’t need to be part of the iCloud backup

  1. Go to Settings > iCloud
  2. Tap on Storage > Manage Storage > This iPhone
  3. Scroll down and tap on “Show all apps”
  4. Turn off the apps you don’t want to have part of the iCloud backup

That’s it! You’ve just saved space on your iCloud account!
